Privacy Policy
Effective September 30, 2026
This policy explains how Blue Byte Systems Inc. ("Blue Byte", "we", "us") collects, uses and protects personal information when you use bluebyte.biz, our online store, our desktop software (including PDMPublisher, PDMShell and ConisioDark) and our mobile applications. Blue Byte is based in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, and handles personal information in line with Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and British Columbia's Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA).
1. Information we collect
Information you give us
- Contact and quote requests: name, email address, company and the details you include in your message.
- Purchases and accounts: name, email, company, billing address and order details. Payments are handled by our payment processors; we do not store full card numbers.
- Newsletter: your name and email address if you subscribe.
- Support requests: the information you send to our support desk, which may include files or screenshots you choose to share.
Information collected automatically on the website
- Basic technical data such as IP address, browser type, pages visited and referring page, used to run, secure and improve the site.
- Cookies that keep you signed in, remember your cart and protect forms from spam. See section 6.
Software licenses
When you activate or validate a license for one of our desktop products, we process the license key and the information needed to confirm the license is valid. We do not collect the contents of your CAD files or your PDM vault.
2. Mobile applications (Google Play)
Our mobile applications do not collect, store, transmit or share any personal or sensitive user data.
- No account or sign-in is required to use the apps.
- The apps do not include advertising, analytics or tracking SDKs.
- We do not collect device identifiers, location, contacts, photos, files or usage data.
- Any information you enter in an app stays on your device and is never sent to Blue Byte or to third parties.
- Because no data is collected, there is no personal data for us to sell, share, retain or delete. Uninstalling an app removes everything it stored on your device.
- If an app requests a device permission, it is used only for the feature you are using, on your device.
If a future version of an app needs to collect any data, we will update this policy and the app's Data safety section on Google Play before that version is released.
3. How we use information
- Reply to your questions, quotes and support requests.
- Process orders, deliver software and manage licenses.
- Send service messages such as receipts, license details and important product notices.
- Send our newsletter if you subscribed. You can unsubscribe at any time from any email.
- Keep our website and services secure and working, and understand how they are used so we can improve them.
- Meet our legal and accounting obligations.
We do not sell or rent personal information.
4. Sharing information
We share personal information only with service providers that help us run our business, and only as needed for that purpose. These include website hosting and security (GoDaddy, Cloudflare), email delivery (SendGrid), payment processing and our support desk. These providers must protect the information and may not use it for their own purposes. We may also disclose information if required by law.
Some of these providers store data outside Canada, including in the United States, where it may be subject to local laws.
5. Data retention and security
We keep personal information only as long as needed for the purposes above, or as required by law (for example, tax records). We use reasonable technical and organizational safeguards, including encrypted connections (HTTPS), access controls and reputable service providers. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to protect your information.
6. Cookies
Our website uses cookies that are needed for it to work (for example, sign-in, shopping cart and spam protection) and may use cookies that help us understand site usage. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, although some parts of the site may not work without them.
7. Your rights
You can ask to access, correct or delete the personal information we hold about you, or withdraw your consent to marketing emails, at any time. Email us at info@bluebyte.biz and we will respond within 30 days. If you are not satisfied with our response, you can contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada or the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner for British Columbia.
8. Children
Our website, software and apps are intended for professional use and are not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
